There are some premonitions based on foresight, but for the most part it’s completely believable. Some things are obvious and could have been left unsaid, notably Cohn’s patronage of Trump: He actually provides numbered rules: attack, attack, attack; always claim victory, etc. It doesn’t show two total monsters, both have a human side, Trump especially in his relationship with older brother Freddy. The acting of both characters is perfect; we have no problem accepting Sebastian Stan as Trump once was, and Jeremy Strong plays Cohn perfectly. His hooded, dead eyes are distinctively Kon, but the scar running down his nose from a botched childhood surgery forced on him by his mother is gone. I couldn’t fault the period details. Mary Ann Trump’s Scottish accent sounded more central European. This movie is great for understanding what made Trump who he is today, though it doesn’t mention how his childhood made him the man who met Cohn. I recommend everyone who has not yet decided to watch it before the election.
